Moment in US History:
235 years ago this minute, brave men and women were gathering to decide whether you or I would be here today. Would we have the ability to enjoy the rivers, share a ballgame or a cookout? Would we be able to live in freedom? What Rights would be bestowed on the people? They were deciding the details of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness for the new nation. With all this, they also knew there was a battle looming on the horizon and many would die. They knew it would be difficult, they did not quit, nor shy from the challenge.
Think of the external conditions that surrounded them. Enemy to the sea, and enemy to the wilderness to the West. This small group of settlers were forming what would become the greatest nation mankind had ever seen. They knew where they wanted this new nation to go, and now they were deciding how to get there. These were strong people, determined people. They knew what they had to do.
Imagine the cold in the winters, the heat in the summers... failed crops, dead animals, disease. Could the people of today handle such conditions? They gave us the opportunities we have today. It was because of their blood, sweat and tears that we survive as a nation today. The document they would draft notifying the King that we would no longer be subject to his tyranny, was a certainly a death warrant for those who signed it and those who supported it. Even with this, they pushed forward.
Think about these things, let your imagination run wild with your own thoughts of what it was like then. Take into consideration what these Americans went through to allow you to be where you are today. Enjoy your 4th of July, and when you see the fireworks.... remember their significance.
Happy Birthday America!
The United States of America is still, and will always be the best country on Earth.
We will always remember, and we will always prevail!
