Book/Short Story review; "Within Hours" - A Terroristic Nightmare - Amazon Kindle

They tell us the border region is safe...  This fictional short story tells us differently.  Follow a family man on his journey to his ranch in South Texas, only to find something he hadn't bargained for.

"Within Hours"
by Jeff Falck
I'd decided to stay home this year and use the two week break from the family to take care of business and visit our ranch in South Texas that my parents had left to us after passing last year.  I hadn't been there in some time, and I felt a need to go check on things, even though there was a family that had been with my Dad for nearly forty years taking care of the place.  Twenty thousand acres with cattle and a few rigs provided a healthy income for Mom and Dad for most of their lives, and now it was ours....

I stop the truck, scanning the dense wooded area around me.  I don't see Pedro or Maria in the group.  I reach over and pull the pistol close to me, and reaching down and taking the safety off the shotgun.  They don't all look Mexican..... they’re OTM's.  Other than Mexicans; in the group.

I look back up.  Obviously, I've been spotted.  What was originally 10 has now dwindled down to five.  I can see activity inside the cabin.

Then, before I know it a Mexican national pops up directly in front of the truck.  He's pointing what looks like an AK-47 directly at me.  My hands go up.  Then, a bang on the glass lets me know there is someone on the left of me, to the right, and in the rear view mirror as well.  I'm in trouble.
